A Research Associate position in the Planetary Science Group (8409) is now live on the University's jobs page:

Working jointly with the joint European Space Agency (ESA) and Chinese Academy of Sciences Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer (SMILE) mission, you will have specific responsibilities relating to tasks before launch and during the first years of scientific data analysis. This will involve working both independently and collaboratively as part of the research team to achieve defined milestones, and produce high quality research as part of the wider programme.

The primary research topic is the solar wind-magnetoshere-ionosphere interaction, focusing on modes of the magnetosphere under changing interplanetary magnetic field conditions, and the subsequent response of the ionosphere and field-aligned currents. This will involve measurements from multiple types of instruments, including ground-based experiments and space-based instrumentation such as from ESA's Swarm satellites, and centred around preparations and exploitation of the first data from SMILE.

The advert is closing at midnight on 23 November 2023, and is available at the following link: https://jobs.le.ac.uk/vacancies/8409/research-associate.html
