Annonce transmise par par Dominique Fontaine (LPP)

The Laboratory of Plasma Physics (LPP) at Ecole Polytechnique, Paris, France invites applications for a postdoctoral position in space plasma physics. The project aims to simulate the interaction of interplanetary solar events such as interplanetary shocks, Coronal Mass Ejections (CME) with Earth’s magnetized environment and its boundaries (bow-shock, magnetopause). The numerical results will be validated by comparison to in-situ observations from space missions such as Solar Orbiter, MMS. The successful candidate will join the team “Space Plasmas” which is internationally known for expertise in developing in-situ instrumentation, data analysis and simulation and modeling tools.

This postdoctoral fellowship will be appointed for a maximum of three years and will be granted on the basis of past experience (2900 - 4200 euros gross salary per month). The position will be open until it is filled.

The applicant must have completed a PhD preferably in Space Plasma Physics or in Physics, Astrophysics or related fields and published scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals. Experience in simulations or space data analysis will be appreciated.
