Position description :

The School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Experimental Space Physics. The appointment is expected to be at the Assistant Professor level, with appointments at a more senior level considered.

The University of Minnesota has a space physics research group with a long history of participation in successful space-based experiments. The group includes theoreticians and experimenters who study particle acceleration and reconnection throughout the heliosphere. Applications are encouraged from researchers working in any area related to space physics. This includes not only the plasmas of the Sun, its heliosphere, and
planetary magnetospheres, but also includes related topics such as the plasma physics of exoplanets and stars, or the interaction of space plasma with the upper layers of Earth’s atmosphere. Members of the space physics group are also members of the Minnesota Institute for Astrophysics, offering abundant opportunity for collaborative research across many astrophysical areas. The group also enjoys collaborations with the Department of Aerospace Engineering on space-based instrumentation projects.
