1st H2020-SOLARNET Meeting “Sun and Society” – First Announcement

Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the SOC and LOC of the meeting, we are glad to announce the 1st H2020-SOLARNET Meeting “Sun and Society” to be held at the Venice International University (Venice, Italy), 5-9 of October 2020.

The web site of the symposium is being constructed at: http://www.science-media.org/cid/solarnet5

The web site of the Venice International University (VIU) is: http://www.univiu.org/

The sessions at the Meeting will be:

  • Drivers of solar activity (solar dynamo, solar cycle, magnetic flux emergence, evolution and MHD instabilities, ..)
  • Solar Activity (TSI and SSI variability, flares, CMEs, SPEs, solar wind, GCRs modulation, ..)
  • Sun-Earth Connection (e.g., solar variability and its influence on circumterrestrial space, space weather, geomagnetic storms, Earth’s atmosphere and climate)
  • Sun, Space and Society (solar physics impact on economy and society, data for ‘civil ’society, education and outreach)
  • The role of high-resolution ground-based solar astrophysics (including EST & DKIST) complemented by space solar missions (e.g., Solar Orbiter)
  • Technology for solar physics (e.g., involvement of high technology industries, solar instrument criticalities, technological solutions)

Scientific Organizing Committee:

  • Francesco Berrilli (chair), Department of Physics, University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy
  • Manuel Collados Vera, Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias, Spain
  • Paola De Michelis, Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia, Italy
