Solar Physics Summer School (Raman Science Centre, Leh, India: 10–16 June 2019)

The Indian Institute of Astrophysics is going to host a one week long
international school in solar physics to introduce and train the PhD
students.  The summer school will focus on the physics of the Sun and
Sun–Earth connection. The School’s programme will consist of a set of
specialised lectures in advanced topics in solar physics, as well as
hands-on and transferrable skills sessions in solar data analysis.
Approximately 35 students will be selected through a competitive process
and online application system. The school will lasts for six days, and
each participant will be provided with local hospitality and some travel
support.

The students will be selected from following categories:

 1. PhD student in any phase of training, or first or second year
    postdoctoral fellow.
 2. Majoring in physics with an emphasis on astrophysics, with some
    experience with solar physics.

The following topics will be covered:

Solar interior, Dynamo theory, MHD waves and coronal seismology,
solar magnetism and the structure and dynamics of the solar
atmosphere, solar flares and coronal heating,, solar activity:
coronal mass ejections, solar wind and heliosphere, solar
variability over large time scale and space climate and practical on
    solar data analysis

Deadline for online application: 10 February, 2019
