We are pleased to confirm that the 16th Solar Wind (SW16) meeting will be held June 12-16, 2023 at the Asilomar Conference Grounds in Monterey, California, just south of the San Francisco Bay Area.  SW16 is the latest in a storied series of conferences dating back to 1964, just after the first in situ measurements of the solar wind.  SW16 returns the meeting to the location where the Solar Wind 2 and 3 meetings were held in 1971 and 1974.

The Solar Wind conference is a premier venue for focused discussion on topics of solar wind origins and structure, physical processes, and interactions with the planets.  In the era of the Parker Solar Probe and Solar Orbiter missions and DKIST observatory, we expect Solar Wind 16 to be especially vigorous and productive.

The Asilomar Conference Grounds is a unique, historical site and a California State Park facility.  At Asilomar Beach on the Pacific Ocean near Monterey, CA, it has its origins as a YWCA camp with rustic buildings designed in the Arts & Crafts style by renowned architect Julia Morgan. The grounds are especially conducive to informal discussion, with lodging arranged in clusters, outdoor firepits, billiards tables, and a communal dining hall.

The SW16 meeting will be organized around a set of fundamental topics with 'scene setting' talks by a diverse roster of scientists meant to encourage discussion.  Daily poster sessions will a centerpiece of the scientific program.
