Postdoctoral research position at IAA-CSIC, Granada, Spain

The Solar System Department of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía (IAA- CSIC, Granada, Spain) is inviting applications for a 2 years postdoc position to work on the following aspects:

  * Investigation of the climate impact of solar and geomagnetic
    activity on decadal to centennial time-scales using climate model
    data and observations in the frame of the Spanish research project
    ACERO (PID2019-110689RB-I00) and related international activities.
  * Algorithm development for the retrieval of middle atmospheric
    temperature and trace gas abundances in preparation of the Earth
    Explorer 11 candidate mission "Changing Atmosphere Infrared
    Tomography Explorer (CAIRT)".

The successful candidate will work in collaboration with Dr Bernd Funke and other members of the Group of Atmospheres of the Terrestrial Planets (GAPT, http://gapt.iaa.es <http://gapt.iaa.es>) of IAA-CSIC. The GAPT group is actively involved in the CAIRT mission preparation and in international activities targeting the solar influence on the terrestrial climate. GAPT group members are also involved in the study of planetary atmospheres within and beyond the Solar system. The Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía (https://www.iaa.csic.es <http://www.iaa.csic.es>) is a leading research center of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), and owns the distinction "Center of Excellence in Research" of the Spanish Severo Ochoa Program.

*Starting date:*  Spring 2022

*Job requirements:* PhD in Physics, Atmospheric Sciences or related field. Experience in atmospheric satellite remote sensing and radiative transfer, analysis of satellite and climate model data. Strong background in code development is essential.
